What regulated personal care means in practice

In England, the regulated activity of personal care includes physical assistance with specific personal-care activities such as washing or bathing, toileting, dressing and oral care when the legal conditions apply. Graceful Living does not currently provide those hands-on personal care activities.

Why not use vague wording?

Because trust is more important than making a service appear broader than it really is. Calling a regulated activity by a softer name does not change what the activity is. The nature of the support actually delivered is what matters.

Non-regulated does not mean unimportant

Companionship, shopping, community connection, routines and everyday practical help can make a substantial difference to quality of life. The value lies in what those activities help the person preserve: confidence, choice, connection, purpose, enjoyment and independence.

If needs change

If somebody needs support beyond Graceful Living’s current scope, the right response is to be open about it and help the family recognise that a different or additional service may be needed.
