Companionship & everyday support across Exeter and surrounding areas
Helping the people you love continue living life their way
Companionship and everyday support across Exeter and surrounding areas — for people who want a little extra help to stay independent, connected, confident and involved in the life they have chosen.

There often comes a point when a little extra support can make an enormous difference
Perhaps your mum still values living independently, but the days can feel long when nobody visits. Perhaps your dad is perfectly able to make his own decisions, yet shopping, appointments and keeping on top of ordinary things take more energy than they once did. Perhaps someone you love has stopped going out as much, is losing touch with hobbies or friends, or would simply feel more confident with someone dependable beside them.
And perhaps you are the person trying to hold everything together — calling, visiting when you can, arranging appointments, remembering the shopping, and wondering whether they are lonely or finding things harder than they say.
Sometimes what a person needs is not for somebody to take over their life.
They need someone dependable beside them.
Someone who has time. Someone who listens. Someone who notices. Someone who can help ordinary life feel more manageable while keeping the person’s choices, routines and independence at the centre.
More than a visit
We want every visit to have a purpose. That purpose may be helping someone feel less lonely, getting out of the house after several days indoors, doing the weekly shop together, attending an appointment, organising a few everyday tasks or simply sitting down over a cup of tea and having a proper conversation.
Behind those ordinary moments is a bigger goal: helping people remain connected, confident, involved and as independent as possible in the life they have chosen.

Concerns & hopes
The concerns we hear. The hopes we hold.
These songs are not written about our clients — they are written to carry what clients and families share with us: the worry of losing independence, and the hope of staying yourself, in your own home, with someone beside you. Listen, or read the words below.

Still My Own Life (Someone Beside Me)
The kettle knows my morning
Before I even rise
I still pick the cup I pour
Still decide how I spend my time
Read the full lyrics
Verse 1
The kettle knows my morning
Before I even rise
I still pick the cup I pour
Still decide how I spend my time
The garden’s further now
Than it used to be
But I’m the one who chooses
Whether I stay or leave
Pre-Chorus
And when I hear that knock at the door
It’s not somebody come to take control
(just a friend, just a friend)
Chorus
I’m still living my own life
Now with someone by my side
Still my choices, still my chair, still my door
Just a little less lonely than before
Still my own life
(still my own, still my own)
Just not walking through it alone anymore
Verse 2
We make the list together
Before we go and shop
I still say what I’m needing
Still the one who gets to stop
And stare a while at something
That catches my eye
A friend beside me smiling
Never rushing me by
Pre-Chorus
And when the appointment feels too much to face
There’s a hand that waits, not one that takes my place
(just a friend, just a friend)
Chorus
I’m still living my own life
Now with someone by my side
Still my mornings, still my say, still my way
Just a little more colour in the day
Still my own life
(still my own, still my own)
Just not walking through it alone anymore
Bridge
I raised my kids, I built my home
I’ve earned the right to feel my own
I don’t need saving
I just need
Graceful living, care and support
I just need
Graceful living, care and support
Final Chorus
I’m still living my own life
Now with someone by my side
Still myself, still whole, still free
This is still the life I chose to be
Still my own life
(still my own, still my own)
Just not walking, just not walking
Alone
Anymore

Through the eyes of a family
When I Can’t Be There
I call her every evening
Ask her how her day went
She says “fine love, don’t worry”
But I know what that can mean
Read the full lyrics
Verse 1
I call her every evening
Ask her how her day went
She says “fine love, don’t worry”
But I know what that can mean
I used to lie awake here
Wondering if she’d eaten
If the house was cold
If she’d spoken to a soul
Pre-Chorus
Now somebody sits with her at tea
Someone she trusts, someone like family
(watching over, watching over)
Chorus
So when I can’t be there
Someone’s holding her hand for me
Walking her to the shop, sitting a while for tea
When I can’t be there
She’s still laughing, still herself, still free
And I can finally breathe
When I can’t be there
Verse 2
She went to the doctor Tuesday
Didn’t have to go alone
And when I called that evening
I could hear it in her tone
She’s having graceful living now
Care and support — I’m relieved
(ooh, I’m relieved)
Not tired, not afraid
Just happy with her day
Chorus
So when I can’t be there
Someone’s holding her hand for me
Making the days feel lighter, giving her company
When I can’t be there
I get to just be her daughter again
Not her keeper, just her friend
When I can’t be there
Bridge
I used to carry every worry
Like it was mine to hold alone
Now I carry lighter
Knowing she’s not on her own
(not alone, not alone)
Final Chorus
So when I can’t be there
Someone’s holding her hand for me
And when I finally visit
We laugh, we don’t just plan and see
When I can’t be there
She’s still herself, still free, still she
And that’s enough for me
When I can’t be there
Outro
(not alone... not alone... not anymore)
How we can help
Support built around ordinary life
Companionship & meaningful time
Conversation, shared interests, tea and company, gentle walks, favourite programmes, photographs, music, games, hobbies or simply someone who is genuinely present.
Explore companionship →Everyday support at home
Light practical help with agreed day-to-day tasks so the home feels more manageable and small jobs are less likely to become overwhelming.
See everyday support →Shopping & local errands
Making a list together, going to the shops, putting groceries away, collecting a parcel or completing other agreed local errands — with the person involved in the choices wherever possible.
Shopping and errands →Getting out & staying connected
A walk, a favourite café, the library, a garden centre, a community group, a place of worship, lunch with friends, local events or somewhere the person has simply been wanting to visit.
Getting out and about →Appointments & organisation
Practical support before, during and after an appointment so the person does not necessarily have to navigate travel, questions, paperwork and waiting alone.
Appointment support →Hobbies, routines & things to look forward to
Helping someone reconnect with interests, create meaningful routines and keep enjoyment in the week — because support should never be only about chores.
Hobbies and routines →Everyday technology
Patient help with phones, tablets, messages, email, video calls, calendars, ordinary reminders and finding information online, helping people stay connected and involved.
Digital confidence →Family reassurance & agreed updates
Calm, permission-based updates for sons, daughters and relatives — while the person stays in control of their own life.
See family reassurance →Imagine knowing someone you trust is there
Reassurance for the people who care

Imagine knowing your mum has had more than a quick telephone conversation today. Someone has sat with her, listened, shared a laugh and given her time.
Imagine knowing your dad has not spent the whole week indoors because someone went for a walk with him, stopped for coffee and helped him pick up a few things from the shops.
Imagine knowing an appointment you could not attend did not have to be faced alone.
And imagine being able to spend more of your own time simply being a daughter, son, spouse, grandchild, relative or friend — instead of every conversation becoming a checklist of things that need doing.
Support without taking over
Good support should leave people feeling more in control of their lives, not less. We ask rather than assume. We encourage rather than unnecessarily take over. We listen before acting. We respect routines, preferences, choices and the fact that someone’s home is their home.
Clear about what we provide
Our current service is focused on companionship, everyday practical support, social connection, community access and helping people maintain their independence. We do not currently provide regulated hands-on personal care such as washing, bathing, toileting, dressing or undressing, oral care or other hands-on personal care activities.
If someone’s needs are beyond what we currently provide, we will be open about that rather than promise something we cannot appropriately deliver. Trust begins with being clear.
